Ankle tattoo?

Approximately how much time will it take to get a 2inch x 2 inch sized tattoo on my ankle and any ideas how much this could cost? And another question, how much will it hurt and what can I expect it to feel like? Thanks for any help!

Entire time from start to finish-- about 2 hours. The actual tattooing buy antibiotics should take about an hour, depending on the amount of detail you have. The cost can range anywhere from $60-$200, again depending on the level of detail, the amount of color, any shading and where the shop is located. (Its cheaper in Reno than SoCal, but I love my artist in SoCal. I would rather pay the extra money since its permanent and I totally trust her.)
It hurts most over the bone and the Achilles Tendon. If you have ever had road rash or scraped yourself really bad on pavement, that's kinda what it feels like. Over the bone, its much more of a strong pinch/poke. Take some deep breaths and put your mind someplace else.

You're probably fine as long as the skin where your tattoo has healed. If you're still worried about it, cover it with a band-aid or wrap it in gauze so that the skin doesn't rub when you run.

I agree get something that means something to you. I think its cool to also make it go onto the top of your foot if you get a band. Make sure you get alot of color, it makes them stand out alot more and you will really enjoy it more.
Just make sure that you know it will hurt a little bit because you are going over bone.

My first tattoo is on the inside of my foot. It is the head of a viper at about ankel height, whose body goes down as far as the tattoo artist said was possible on my heel. I have other tattoos, and it was BY FAR the most painful. Also, when i was having it done, a biker came in who was tattooed head to foot. I was shaking and I asked him "did all your tats hurt as bad as this?" and he said "HELL NO! That spot is full of nerves and has no fat". So there ya go.
Just be prepared, mentally. Ineffective pain management is to grit your teeth and clench something really hard. What is far better is to practice meditation breathing for a week or two before you go. If you can focus, breathe, and relax the muscles in your body (instead of clenching them) you will fare far better.
Also, with recovery time, you wont be able to hike for about a week, at least. But then its fine once its all healed.
Sounds like a beautiful idea! make sure your artist can do FINE LINE work. Thicker lines are uglier. Look at their artwork, and then have them draw up your idea. If you like it, go for it.
