Peat moss is horrible stuff IMHO. When it dries out it is really difficult to get wet again. And when it's soggy, it's really wet. No plants like that. Crown Of Thorns as you know is a cactus. As plaplant8 said use cactus mix. Or you can replant in in any well draining potting soil. It might drop it's leaves. But if it gets happier in it's new soil, it should put on some more leaves. If you're trying to grow it inside it needs to be in a window. Outside it can grow in light shade to sun. Water about once a week in winter, more often in summer. According to your climate, you're mileage may vary.
