No, tattooing is not frowned upon in Europe. In fact, I think that's where tattoos first appeared was in Europe, and has become even more popular, in the last few years. According to About.com Europeans wear tattoos with pride and zeal, having them all over their bodies.

regular skis are wider and have edges but i cant see why you couldnt use normal skis for crosscountry
cross county skis dont cost to much
