   Don't use tape and don't use soap and water unless you want your grip to fly off in mid-air. I can only assume you mean a dirt bike since you didn't specify. If it is a dirt bike here is what you need to do. Cut the old grips off with a sharp knife or razor blade (unless you are too young to play with sharp objects, hey, you never know on YA). Then clean the bar and throttle assembly with gas and let dry, make sure no glue is left behind. Then use either grip glue (can be bought at the bike shop), or clear spray paint which can be purchased at Wal*Mart among other places. For me the clear paint works better than anything else, even grip glue, plus it sets up much faster. Spray it in the grip and let the excess poor out, wait 30 seconds, then spray on handlebar or throttle assembly and spray a little more in the grip. Slide on very slowly and let dry for a couple hours. Do one side at a time.
